Jackson County Sheriff’s Department had 9 calls for April 3rd and 4th. Deputies conducted a welfare check and assisted the Jackson Ambulance with a medical call.  Deputies responded to a disturbance in Alpha.  After investigating, a 61-year-old female from Alpha was arrested for a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order violation. Deputies located and arrested a 33-year-old woman for an outstanding warrant. Deputies were dispatched to Burger King in Jackson for a reported disturbance between a customer and employees.  A customer ordered a plain hamburger but got a cheeseburger instead which led to an argument and subsequent 911 call.  Those involved were advised this was not a police matter but rather a civil matter. A matter of a scam was handled and Deputies responded to the Jackson Inn in regards to an individual refusing to leave the premises.  The party was formally served a Trespass Notice by management and informed if he returned, he would be arrested for Trespassing. Jackson County Sheriff Office met with the new Jackson Ambulance Director and gave him a tour of 911 Dispatch Center.  Topics covered were paging, the 911 system, training, and the ARMER radio system. A deputy responded to a report of a teenager who ran 2 stop signs on the west side of Jackson.  The vehicle was not located initially.  Follow up will be conducted with the teen and parents.

Today marks the start of Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota, The National Weather Service and the Minnesota Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, along with other state, county and local agencies will conduct tornado drills to allow families and organizations to work on their safety plans. According to a release, the tests will take place twice on Thursday April 11th at 1:45pm and 6:45pm most counties will activate outdoor warning siren systems and other notification systems. The National Weather Service and others will also post on social media but will not activate NOAA Weather Radio. Many media outlets will air the test-warning. It is important to understand that counties and cities own the sirens, and therefore decide how and when to activate them. The National Weather Service does not sound them. Sirens normally sound for about three minutes, and then go silent. There is no such thing as an “all-clear” for storms. Severe Weather can include lightning and hail, floods, extreme heat and heat related illnesses, and tornadoes. During severe weather season, we sometimes see Warning and Watches issued for severe thunderstorms or tornadoes. Remember A watch indicates that conditions are favorable and that a weather hazard is possible. This means you could see a severe thunderstorm or you may see a tornado. When a warning gets issued that means you need to take action.
