The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners have their regular meeting Tuesday afternoon June 20th. Many items are on their agenda including a financial discussion, approval of resignations and hiring’s, proposed changes to policies, a cannabis discussion, and many more agenda items. The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners meeting starts at 3:30pm Tuesday in the Cottonwood County Courthouse.


The Windom City Council has their meeting on Tuesday, June 20th at 6:30pm in the Windom City Council Chamber. Some items on the agenda are updates from department heads, resolution on shelter house rental rates, approving submission of 2024 state bonding request, cannabis law discussion update, and personnel recommendations.


The Murray County Board of Commissioners has their meeting Tuesday at 8:30am in the Murray County Government Center. You can attend the meeting either in person, listen to the meeting by calling 312-626-6799 (Passcode: 402764), or view the meeting via zoom.

The Jackson Board of Commissioners and Drainage Authority have their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 20th. The meeting starts at 9am in the Commissioners Board Room in the Jackson County Courthouse.


Lutheran Social Service Meals in Windom and Mountain Lake are closed today for the Juneteenth holiday.  There won’t be dining at the meal sites or Meals on Wheels today.


Mountain Lake continues to celebrate 100 years of Pow Wow fun today. Food and commercial stands open at 10am in the city park, followed by events all day including the reptile/amphibian petting zoo, kids train, grand parade on 3rd Ave starting at 7pm, and ending the night with Big Nacho Karaoke and beer garden at the Den after the parade.

Mountain Lake Pow Wow 2023


For Mountain Lake Public School students, school ended a few weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean their education takes a summer break. Mountain Lake Public School Superintendent Bill Strom says many students have signed-up for summer activities… 

The Mountain Lake summer activities and experiences are designed to help students learn and grow in their academics, friendships, and life. Some of those activities end in June, some in July, and the rest end in August.


The Economic Development Authority of Windom had a meeting last week. During the meeting, EDA Director Tiffany Lamb says she’s been working with the Southwest Initiative Foundation, and they’ve expressed concern about Windom’s small businesses…  

Lamb said SWIF isn’t exactly sure what that help would look like, but did give one example… 

SWIF said there are other options available, they just need to know what the needs are of small businesses in Windom, and they’ll work to come up with a solution. Those who would like some help can contact EDA Director Tiffany Lamb and she’ll get you in touch with Southwest Initiative Foundation.
