Windom Police Department reported on the 9th at approximately 11:30am Officers responded to the AmericInn for a report of an intoxicated female with children refusing to leave the property. After investigation, the children were transported by Family Services to their business and the female mother transported to the Windom Area Hospital for an evaluation. At approximately 2:20 pm officers handled a call concerning terroristic threats at the Windom Area High School. Officers then at 8:24pm located and arrested a 67-year-old male from Windom on an outstanding warrant in Cottonwood County. At 8:50pm Officers were notified of a vehicle following a Windom female around town. Officers located the vehicle, and an arrest was made on a 33 year old male from Sioux Falls for an outstanding Hennipen County warrant. At approximately 10pm Officers noticed a vehicle traveling on Hwy 60 by Kwik Trip with no headlights activated. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but the vehicle fled and a pursuit begun. The vehicle traveled at high rate of speeds on county roads and the pursuit ended in the city of Butterfield with the driver fleeing on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the driver, later ID’ed as David Khounsanthone from Mt. Lake was arrested and charged with the following: Felon in possession of ammunition, Fleeing in motor vehicle, Fleeing on foot, Drug sales and Possession of narcotics.

January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. During the month of January, and throughout the year please join Southwest Crisis Center in the fight and awareness of Human Trafficking. If something doesn’t look or feel right, make the call to law enforcement or if in a store, management, SPEAK UP… Don’t just brush it off. Seconds can make a difference, and YOU could be the difference in the safety of someone’s life.

Stick it to Cancer and Rock the Rink Pink will be happening on January 19th. The Windom Youth Hockey league will be having a double header Girls at 5 and Boys at 7pm. This evening will be dedicated to honoring those in our community that have been affected by cancer. The community is invited to help raise awareness and funds by sponsoring a square on the ice. Recycling is now being picked up through Hometown Sanitation. With change comes a little confusion. IF you are confused about when your recycling date is you can contact Hometown Sanitation or go to their website OR below. Recycling routes are every other week for residents of Windom, Mountain Lake, Bingham Lake, Delft, Jeffers, Storden and Westbrook. The next recycling days are as follows:
Windom Route 1: Everything east of Highway 60/71 as well as areas both west of the highway and south of 10th street on Tuesday January 17th
Windom Route 2: Areas west of Highway 60/71 and North of 10th Street, including 10th Street on Wednesday January 18th
Mountain Lake/Bingham Lake/Delft and Jeffers on Thursday January 19th
Storden and Westbrook on Friday January 20th.
