A three-vehicle crash in Redwood County sent emergency crews to the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and County Road 2 Saturday evening.
The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office received the call just before 5:30 p.m. on November 8th. Deputies arrived to find a Chrysler Town & Country van, a Chevy Impala, and a Ford Fusion involved in the collision. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the van, driven by a 38-year-old male from Stewart, was traveling east on Highway 71. The Impala, driven by a 22-year-old male from Fairfax, was attempting to turn onto County Road 2 when the driver reportedly failed to yield, turning in front of the van and causing the initial impact. The force of that collision caused the van that was occupied by five people, to then make a light head-on contact with the Ford Fusion, which was traveling west. The Fusion was driven by a 50-year-old male from Morton and had three occupants. The Impala also carried three people. CentraCare Ambulance responded as a precaution, but no one was transported to the hospital. Damage to the vehicles was estimated at over $1,000 each. The Lower Sioux Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene. A citation was issued to the driver of the Impala.
