The City of Jackson is once again searching for a new city administrator.
Mayor Marcus Polz confirmed that Jim Langborg resigned from the position last week, effective immediately. Langborg had served just seven months, after being hired in March following a nationwide search. In a statement Friday, Mayor Polz thanked Langborg for his service and wished him the best in his future endeavors. Polz said that for now, city department heads will report directly to his office to ensure operations continue smoothly and ongoing projects stay on track. The mayor added that the city’s focus remains on stability, teamwork, and transparency as leaders work with the city council and personnel committee to determine next steps for long-term administrative leadership. Langborg’s resignation marks the third administrator change in less than two years for the City of Jackson. The full statement from Mayor Polz is available on KDOM’s website under Local Headline News and also on the City of Jackson’s Facebook Page.

After yesterday’s icky weather and today not being too much better, it is time to start considering it just might be time to admit wintery and more icky weather is bound to be coming.  Winter weather will be here before we know it, and Windom Area Schools are reminding families to get ready for possible schedule changes when the snow flies. Windom Area Schools Superintendent Jamie Frank says if inclement weather makes travel unsafe for students and staff, families will receive an alert. Messages will go out by email, text, and phone call so now is a great time to log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and make sure contact information is up to date. Weather-related announcements will also be shared on KDOM Radio, KEYC, WCCO, KELO, and KARE 11 television stations, as well as on the Windom Schools Facebook and Twitter pages. Frank explains that there are three types of days that could be called due to bad weather:
E-Learning Days, Snow Days, and Virtual Professional Development Days.

  • On an E-Learning Day, preschool through middle school students will complete work from their take-home folders, while high school students log into Infinite Campus. Teachers will be available by phone or email throughout the day.
  • A Good Old-Fashioned Snow Day means no school for students or staff.
  • A Virtual Professional Development Day gives students the day off while staff take part in online training sessions.

Superintendent Frank encourages families to stay connected and prepared as winter approaches.
