Caring for a loved one is an act of love. But it can also be exhausting, overwhelming, and sometimes lonely. If you’re a caregiver, you don’t have to carry the weight by yourself. This September, A.C.E. of Southwest Minnesota in Cottonwood County is offering a free class called Powerful Tools for Caregivers at the BARC Library. Over six weeks, you’ll learn how to manage stress, make tough decisions, improve communication, and connect with resources that make the journey easier. It’s not just about being a better caregiver, it’s about remembering to care for yourself, too. Classes are free, but space is limited. Don’t just think, “I should do that.” Make the call and reserve your spot. Call Emily at 507-831-1803 today. Powerful Tools for Caregivers, because taking care of someone else starts with taking care of you.

The deadline is coming up for local organizations to apply for Federated Rural Electric’s Operation Round Up funds. Applications must be submitted by September 12th. Operation Round Up allows Federated members to round up their monthly electric bills to the next dollar, with the extra change going into a trust fund. A board made up of Federated members reviews requests and awards grants. Since the program began in 1995, more than one million dollars has been distributed to support projects such as senior dining, hospice, fire and ambulance departments, scholarships, and more. Organizations serving Jackson and Martin Counties can apply for funding in areas like community service, youth education, disaster relief, and energy assistance. Application forms are available online at www.federatedrea.coop or by calling Federated Rural Electric.
