  • The Windom State Theater Annual Meeting at 7pm at Midwest Ag Advisors located at 955 1st Ave N, Windom. The public is invited to attend and participate in providing feedback and attend annual elections.

The Jeffers City Council met on the 14th. The Board heard from Visitors: Luke Richard of Burkhardt & Burkhardt as he presented the Audit for 2024. After the presentation the board voted to approve the audit report for 2024. The clerk presented a letter in support of the Federated Rural Electric Association in its efforts to expand high-speed fiber to the premise broadband service to unserved and underserved areas in Cottonwood County through the Minnesota BEAD program which was approved. The Jeffers Fire Department recently approved an increase of the yearly retirement rate from $825 to $1,000 per year, recommending that the Jeffers City Council approve this increase. The board tabled this request until further information can be given. A building permit for a cement patio was reviewed and approved. The council then reviewed and approved a fence permit. Lance Holmen, Maintenance reported the street sweeper will be in town any day. Keck Tree Service will be in town to remove ash trees on city property for approximately two ½ days in the coming week and a letter with a fine will be sent to a resident regarding dogs at large.

Cottonwood County Commissioners met on Tuesday. The commissioners adopted the resolution regarding Sioux Rock Quarry expansion. Commissioners also approved to distribute 2024 Affordable Housing Funds totaling $88, 448 equally between Rebuilding Minnesota Together and UCAP. The low bid was accepted in the amount of $744,484 to Murphy Window & Doors out of Priceton, MN. A proposal for Designated Services from Engan Associates regarding the Cottonwood County Courthouse Window Covers was accepted at the cost of $10,000.  The commissioners then accepted the resignation from County Attorney Deja Weber effective April 25, 2025 and made a motion to extend an offer to former County Attorney Nick Anderson with a starting salary of $171,000 per year. Later in the afternoon, the offer was extended and accepted on terms extended by Anderson. He will start on May 1st.
