Officers responded to a domestic disturbance, conducted several traffic stops, investigated a deceased person call, dealt with several animal calls and handled two separate unlawful trash dumping. Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday. The Commissioners set a Public Hearing for the Cannabis Ordinance on Tuesday May 6, 2025 at 9:02am. The Commissioners then accepted the Short Elliot Henrickson , Inc Professional Services Agreement for 2025 Services and motioned to purchase a used 2021 Sullair 185 Cat Air Compressor from Ziegler for $18,500 and declare the 2003 Sullair 210H air compressor as surplus equipment to be sold on Minnbid. A 2012 F250 Extended Cab Pickup was also declared surplus property and will be sold on Minnbid. The Commissioners then approved an Office Space Lease between Cottonwood County and SVE, LLC effective March 1, 2025, for the rental of two offices at the N71 Office Building. Jon Wendinger was approved to move to ful-time status as a Heavy Equipment Operator effective March 10th after successful completion of probationary period.

Windom City Council met on Tuesday. According to Councilwoman Jenny Quade it was a short meeting. Due to weather, guest speakers rescheduled, but the Council did recognize Mary Holmen with a Resolution of Appreciation for 14 years as an EMT. There will be a planned power outage in the City of Windom on March 16th from 2am-4am to test the new generator. City Wide Cleanup date was set for May 17th, we will have more details at a later date of what will be accepted and where drop off points will be. Quade also stated that Four Radar Speed Signs have been ordered and should be delivered in 4-6 weeks. Quade went onto say the City is paying for three of the signs and MnDOT will be paying for the fourth one and will reclaim once the roundabout is installed.

Starting Friday, March 7, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will end winter load increases in the North-Central frost zone and will start spring load restrictions in the Central and North-Central frost zones. Spring load restrictions have already begun in the South, Southeast and Metro zones. According to MnDOT, Seasonal load limit zones and restricted routes can be found on the MnDOT load limits map. Start and end dates and other load limit information are shown at mndot.gov/loadlimits. Overweight permits for more than 80,000 pound gross vehicle weight will continue and new permits will be issued if all axle and group weights are legal (axle weight limits). MnDOT will report start and end dates on its 24-hour automated message center at 1-800-723-6543 for the U.S. and Canada, and locally at 651-366-5400 for the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
