FFA- Future Farmers of America has been celebrating this past week for National FFA Week. Savanna Weber, Mountain Lake AG Teacher and FFA Advisor in Mountain Lake explained that FFA is an organization that focuses on  cultivating leadership, fostering growth, and making a positive impact on communities. During FFA week, Weber stated they want to commemorate everything that FFA represents. In Mt Lake the celebration had the kids’ school wide having dress up days a life size Hungry Hippos Class vs Class contest. It truly is a fun week but being an organization making a difference this year, Mt Lake FFA encouraged their school in “Coins for Cancer”. All students were encouraged to bring their coins and small dollars to “vote” for a staff member to be pied in the face, today. Part of the money raised will be donated to a cancer cause, American Cancer Society or Relay for Life. FFA is a constant, young learn from past FFA members and Weber wanted to encourage past members to share their journey and tag Mt Lake FFA on Facebook or Instagram. FFA Week is ending tomorrow but according to Weber, they have a few regional contests left in March and April before they head to the State Convention on April 28th and 29th. The Mountain Lake FFA Chapter Banquet will be on March 21st, and they are looking for businesses to help sponsor the banquet as well as various other activities FFA hosts throughout the year. Weber stated if there are any interested businesses wishing to make a donation, they can contact her through their Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/mtlakeffa or through the Mt Lake Public School website.

I’m super excited because it is National Sticky Bun Day. They are one of my favorite rolls, ESPECIALLY if there are pecans. I mean the way the soft sweet roll that is soaked in caramel just melts in your mouth is just Heaven on earth! Today is also National Card Reading Day. I still have a wall hanging that holds Christmas Cards, up. They all just bring me joy.  I am so grateful for all the people that still take the effort and send notes or cards along with pictures of their adventures and families. I used to be so good at getting the ol’ Christmas Letter out, 9 times out of 10 it was a rhyming work of art that happily explained what was going on in all our lives. Then when the boys graduated from college and settled into their own family life, I found that my life was really boring. Honestly, I love sending letters and cards in the mail. It is just such a satisfying feeling to complete a letter and drop it in the mailbox. I also love getting mail. It is like unwrapping a hidden treasure. Today, take time out and review ALL those cards you’ve been sent over the years. It’s worth the memories and the good feels you will get and don’t forget, a sticky bun slightly heated, will just solidify the joy!!!
