Windom Police Department reported a vehicle theft on the 17th. According to a report, an officer spoke with a female from Lakefield that stated she had just parked her Black 2013 Buick Lacrosse Sedan approximately 30 minutes prior to leaving the AmericInn Hotel in Windom and noticed her vehicle missing. The Lacrosse had tinted windows, faded paint on the rear driver’s side, and was valued at $8,000. Property inside the vehicle was estimated at $400. According to the report, there were no cameras in the area that could see the theft take place.  On the 18th, Windom Police Officer took a report of a theft from a vehicle that occurred in the overnight hours of January 16th to the 17th. The Reporting Party stated that his vehicle had been parked in his driveway in the 1200 block of 20th Street.  The Reporting Party believes that his doors were locked but there was no damage of forced entry. Taken from the vehicle was a Ruger .22 Pistol, Carhart Jacket, Small Black Flashlight, and his checkbook. The approximate value of items stolen were $260. On the 21st, at 7:29am an officer took a report from a Windom Resident in the 1700 block of 4th Avenue. According to the report, someone had entered into his residence sometime during the night after 10pm while he was in the house sleeping, and left sometime in the early morning hours, as he got up at approximately 5am. The Homeowner noticed dirt foot tracks around his kitchen and door. Stolen was a D5200 Nikon Camera, his wallet with personal cards, $120 in cash, his BMO and Discover Debit/Credit Cards, an I-Phone, and inside liner of his Columbia jacket. Approximate value of items stolen were $1,670.

The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners met yesterday. The Commissioners approved a Legal Services Agreement between the County of Cottonwood and Maryellen Suhrhoff of Muske, Muske & Suhrhoff, Ltd effective January 16, 2025 and Legal Services Contractor Agreement between the County of Cottonwood and Amanda Pflueger effective January 16, 2025. The Board then accepted the retirement resignation of longtime Assistant Solid Waste Administrator Donna Stresemann effective April 10, 2025. The board then accepted a quote for a new furnace for the 10th Street Office building from Schwalbach Ace Hardware in the amount of $10,126.66.

Red Rock Central School District Board of Education will be meeting on Wednesday January 22nd at 5pm in Lamberton. The agenda will include election of new officers and board committee members and setting board meetings.

The Mountain Lake-Odin-Ormsby Sportsman Club will be holding their Annual Fishing Contest this Saturday, January 25th from 10am to 4pm. Registration starts at 9am in the Mt Lake Golf Course Clubhouse located at 56500 Lakeshore Dr Mt Lake) Entry fee is $20 for adults and $10 for Kids 12 and Under. There will be door prizes and 100% payback in four categories of Northern Pike, Walleye, Bass and Panfish. Kids 12 and under will receive prize money for the largest three fish caught. There will be chili at the clubhouse at Noon. Minnesota DNR fishing regulations apply and a Minnesota fishing license is required to fish. Bad weather date will be February 8th.

The Subsection 9 One Act Play Contest will be taking place in Redwood Falls at the Estebo Performing Arts Center at Redwood Valley High School on Saturday January 25th starting at 10am. Participating schools include BOLD/BLHS High School, Murray County Central High School, Red Rock Central High School, Redwood Valley High School, Wabasso High School, and Westbrook Walnut Grove High School.
