Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 55 calls in the week of May 19th to May 25th. Deputies conducted 12 Civil Processes, heard 2 Citizen Complaints, worked 2 Thefts handled 1 Verbal Domestic Call and conducted 21 Traffic Stops. Minnesota State Patrol reported on the 27th at 2:55pm a 2017 Ram 1500 was northbound on MN HWY 23 when it left the road and entered the southbound ditch and crashed near milepost 85 in Lyon County. According to the report road conditions were dry. The Driver a 57-year-old male from Magnolia and one of the three passengers were transported to Avera Marshall with what was thought to be non-life threatening injuries. All four occupants in the car were wearing seatbelts. Outside Agencies assisting were Lyon County Sheriff Office, Cottonwood County Fire and EMS.  On the 25th MN State Patrol reported a two-person motorcycle injury at 2:18pm on Highway 71 mile marker 54 in Charlestown Township in Redwood County. A 2008 Honda Goldwing driven by 57-year-old male and his 58-year-old female passenger both from Willmar were northbound on Highway 71 when it lost control and crashed. It was reported road conditions were dry. Neither rider was wearing a helmet. Both were transported to Redwood Hospital with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Outside agencies assisting were Redwood County Sheriff Office, Sanborn First Responders and Fire Department, Springfield and CentraCare Ambulance.

Federated Broadband will be holding a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Jackson County Border-To-Border Grant Buildout, today at 1pm at the Federated Rural Electric & Broadband Office, located at 77100 US Hwy 71 in Jackson.

This project is being supported, in whole or in part, by federal award number CPFFN0179 awarded to the State of Minnesota by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. According to Katrina Paulson, Broadband CSR & Marketing Associate,

Federated Broadband, in partnership with the State of Minnesota Office of Broadband Development, is excited to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for the Jackson County Border-to-Border Fiber Project. This transformative initiative will bring high-speed Internet to over 500 households, businesses, and farms in rural portions of Jackson County. Paulson stated that townships covered under this grant include LaCrosse, Wiemer, West Heron Lake, Alba, Rost, Hunter, Sioux Valley, Minneota and Ewington. The completion of this project will also provide a starting point for future fiber internet expansion within the Federated service territory. Paulson went onto say, Federated Broadband is a local internet service provider that has been serving rural communities in Minnesota and Iowa since 2012. We offer high-speed internet service plans with speeds up to 40Mbps download and 3Mbps upload for fixed wireless services and symmetrical speeds up to 1GIG for our fiber optic services. Federated Broadband has over 100 tower sites across Jackson and Martin Counties, along with Cottonwood, Nobles, Murray and Brown in Minnesota, and Osceola, Dickinson and Emmet Counties in Iowa.

The Library will provide the supplies and you supply your imagination to create the perfect design!
