The Toro Environmental Center project has bee completed as planned. Superintendent Jamie Frank stated that they are grateful for the generous donation to the district by Toro and to GDF for the donation of equipment to clean up the wooded area. Windom City Council met on the 15th. Discussion and approval by the council was made to purchase cameras for the Tegels Park Area and New Shelter cost will come out of the general fund and will be $7,901.13. The Liquor Store Addition bid was rejected to only having one bid for $893,400 and the estimate was in the amount of $675,200. The bidding will be advertised again with more cost saving adjustments made. Mayor Dominic Jones, City Administrator Steve Nasby and EDA Director Tiffany Lamb, met with Governor Walz and staff at FarmFest to discuss the funding that was granted to the City of Windom but not released as of the meeting. A Resolution was made, approved and submitted. The housing section will need to have the developers pay the past expenses and then submit their debit to the City, then the City turns around and make the request for funds from the State. The funds to help reimburse the wastewater treatment plant appears to be an easier or more straightforward process for the funding. Budget Workshop dates were set for Sept. 26th, Oct. 23rd and 24th at the Community Center starting at 6pm each night. The Council approved a Deer Permit within the City There will be permits granted and each hunter can take up to 2 antler-less deer.  The application is on the City website and there is a $20 fee.  There will be a proficiency test.  The hunt is scheduled to take place during the bow season of Sept 16th – Dec 31st at Mayflower Park and the old city dump site.
