Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 62 calls in the week of March 12th to March 18th. Deputies helped with 9 public assists, conducted 7 Civil Processes, 7 Accidents with no injuries, assisted 12 vehicles off road and had 2 traffic stops. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 20th Deputies assisted Jackson Ambulance with a medical call and then responded to a minor two vehicle accident in Jackson. Deputies also responded to two separate reports of harassment and a deputy conducted a traffic stop in Jackson, as a result, the driver was issued a citation for Driving After Revocation.

Redwood County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 19th at approximately 6:45pm a 71-year-old male was driving his 2002 Buick westbound on County State Access Highway 12 near CASH 10. While braking the vehicle lost control and slid into the north side ditch and began rolling over multiple times. The injured driver was transported by Wabasso Ambulance along with Centra Care ALS to Centra Care Hospital in Redwood Falls.

The Windom Area Schools Strategic Planning Committee will hold a meeting Thursday March 23rd at 5:30pm in the Elementary Commons. The Agenda will review, align and wrap-up Goals and have an in-service with the Board-Superintendent Team.

The Cottonwood County Commissioners met yesterday. The Commissioners approved the purchase of an Eventide Voice Logging Recorder for dispatch from Alpha Wireless in the amount of $30,880. The Commissioners went onto adopt and sign the Resolution to Adopt and Implement the Des Moines River Watershed Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan. The Implementation Committee to implement the recommendations of the Ervin Report will consist of Chairman Anderson and Vice Chair Holmen.  After approving all hires presented the Commissioners went into closed session to discuss the litigations of Toro Company vs Cottonwood County  and Fast Ag Solutions, LLC vs Cottonwood County.

The Mountain Lake City Council met on Monday. The meeting opened up with a citizen speaking during the public comment section about snow mobiles on the trail and on her private property. According to the City Administrator, Michael Muller, the City has put signs on the trail stating no motorized vehicles and the citizens property is not within City Limits. Updates were given to the Council regarding civil processes on various properties, public nuisances, current processes, court procedures, agreements, and plans. The Council held a discussion and took action concerning the thoughts of a Special Election for Ballot Question of On-Sale Sunday Liquor Licenses. The Council rescinded their previous motion to authorize a special election and the City will wait until 2024 to put the question on the ballot to ask voters if they would authorize Sunday intoxicating liquor licenses in Mountain Lake. According to City Administrator Muller, Bars and Restaurants can sell off sale liquor on Sunday but they cannot currently sell on-site on Sundays until the voters decide to approve.
