At the Windom City Council meeting on the 7th Councilwoman Jenny Quade reported that the kayak launch that had been fully funded by donations years ago will finally be installed this Spring at Island Park.  Discussion was held on the numerous Potholes throughout the City of Windom. According to Quade the City has almost 28 miles of paved surfaces and 5 miles of gravel surface the City crews try to take care of in town. It is imperative as Spring unfolds to slow down and drive cautiously.  Quade encourages everyone to be patient, the street crews can only do so much and only when weather and conditions are right.   Also The Citywide Cleanup Committee Reported that Spring clean-up for Windom will be set for Saturday, May 20th.  There will be up to three mattress pieces picked up by purchasing tags at city hall.  Council agreed to a $7 subsidy for up to 2 items per household.   The full price is $17 per mattress.

The Clean Up Event will look a little different this year. There will be curbside pick-up for up to 10 large/bulky items at your curb AND two drop site locations in town for you to bring your other items to drop off.    Also, there will be NO appliance or electronic pick up.  The vendor the City  previously used will not be coming back.  Residents will have to watch for the 2 appliance and electronic recycling events the County puts on each year.  More information will be coming out about this Spring Clean Up event.
