Riverbend Liquor is joining forces with the Minnesota Municipal Beverage Association (MMBA) and Miller Lite again this year for their 17th Annual Food Drive. Riverbend will be collecting non-expired and non-perishable food items and monetary donations to help fill the shelves at the Windom Sharing Center. The Food Drive will run until December 1st. The Liquor Store with the highest weight donations will earn an additional $1,000 for their local food shelf, courtesy of Miller Lite, the Minnesota Vikings Foundation and MMBA. Remember every one dollar donation equals three pounds of food for our local Food Shelf! Items needed are Personal Care such as toothpaste, shampoo, body wash and bars of soap, snack bars or packs, Jell-O and Pudding mixes, fruit snacks, small packages of instant mashed potatoes, pasta mixes, small jars of seasonings, small packages of chips etc. Help Riverbend generate the highest weight total in the state! Donations can be dropped off at the Liquor Store located at 575 2nd Ave, Windom during regular business hours. The Terror Trail is back at the Windom Community Center on Halloween Night, October 31st from 4pm to 8:30pm. There will be Treats, Food Trucks and FUN for everyone! Cost to get in is $3 for kids, $2 for adults, and if you have a group of 4 it’s $10. Anyone 12 years of age or younger, MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. Get your fun on at the Windom Community Center located at 1750 Cottonwood Lake Dr Halloween Night!!! It’s guaranteed to be Spooktacular!!!!

The Windom City Council met on the 15th. A public hearing was held on Residential Property Tax Abatement at 2025 Cottonwood Lake Drive. There were no public comments and the Resolution was approved. According to Councilwoman Jenny Quade, a Resolution for a Public Hearing was approved for Miscellaneous Special Assessments. Quade quoted there were up to $9,636.86 in unpaid mowing fees, fire calls etc. This will be heard at the November 19th Council Meeting at 6:30pm. The Electric Department has a 2013 single cab Ford 350, 1996 Brush Bandit wood chipper and 24,439 feet of 500 MCM Aluminum Primary Wire all declared surplus to be put up for sale with the funds returning to the electric department. According to Quade, an invitation was sent to MnDot Commissioner, Senator Weber and Representative Fogleman to attend the November 19th City Council Meeting. Quade went on to say that the next budget meetings are set for October 28th at 6pm and Oct 29th at 7pm at the Windom Community Center. The next regular Council meeting on November 5th will have a late start at 8:05pm after the voting polls close.

The Red Rock Central School District Board of Education will be meeting on Wednesday October 23rd at 5pm in Lamberton.
