The Windom Women of Today Red Cross Blood Drive that was held on the 9th at the Windom Community Center collected 51 units of Whole Blood. There were 8 Power Red donors collecting 15 productive products. For a total of 66 Valuable Units. According to Windom Women of Today President, Monica Mueller, stated the Red Cross Goal was 70 units so they were just 4 shy of reaching their goal, but she stressed that every unit is appreciated and desperately needed to help save lives. Especially with all the hurricanes hundreds of blood drives had to be canceled. Mueller went on to say that the Red Cross loves to come to Windom, because of all the loyal donors. They have actually scheduled an extra blood drive for the Windom Community on December 30th. Normally the Windom Women of Today host 4 drives a year but this year there will be five so mark your calendars! Mueller hopes that with family members coming home for the holidays they will all come and give the gift of life. On behalf of Red Cross and Windom Women of Today they want to send out a sincere thank-you for taking the time to donate and save lives. First Time Donor was Sandy Smedsrud and Milestone Donors were Joanne Kaiser 10 gallons, Patricia White 13 gallons and Sharon Jenniges 14 gallons.

It’s National Spread Joy Day. This is an opportunity to shift the tone of life through newsfeeds, social media, and in person from negativity to joy. Go out and surprise friends or relatives with a simple gift or uplifting message. The main objective is just to make others happy. This day was initiated in response to the escalating negative thinking and hatred observed on social media, in our news, and in politics to effect proactive change in our communities. We can spread happiness if we concentrate more on the good, which is the whole being of National Spread Joy Day!
