I am all about educating and spreading the “knowledge” around… I get it, sometimes you may think what the heck is that Laura talking about now? Well, just this week we had a lovely lady that visited the station to get some information and we got to talking about life and marriage and they just celebrated 65 years of marriage which I in turn said HOLY BUCKETS THAT IS AWESOME, Congratulations!!! I absolutely LOVED her take on marriage, she had stated somedays are tougher to tolerate than others!  AND THEN she chuckled when she realized Steve and I were married. All three of us decided that ANYONE that says they have had a Utopia of marriage where they have NEVER been fed up or ready to toss up the white flag really hasn’t had a FULL marriage. Not to say you can’t have been extremely happy but there is absolutely no way your husband never got on one of your nerves at one point in time… DON”T Call in and complain I am just stating findings from a long time married woman that I believe is spot on!!! With that on my mind… Did you know that today is Flitch Day? I know neither did I!!!! I mean, what the heck? I KID YOU NOT…. BUT… Flitch Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated annually on July 19th.  It dates back to an ancient custom that saw married couples earning a flitch of bacon by proving the strength of their union after a year. The couple would stand trial to prove their love and faithfulness to each other after a year and a-day of their marriage, and, if successful, they were given a flitch of bacon as an award. While this tradition is no longer actively practiced, it is still celebrated every three to four years at the Dunmow Flitch Trials. Now Steve and I are 34 plus marriage and I can’t believe that I never thought of FLITCHING BACON AT HIM… I truly believe this would have resolved a lot of issues… I mean it’s BACON!!! Bacon truly resolves all issues… and if you are a vegetarian you ask? I got nothing for you… BUT it is National Daiquiri Day too and I would bet if you are up for it… We could sit down and have a few daiquiris and resolve not only the whole “trial of marriage” but I bet we could come out with a resolution of World Peace! Lime, Strawberry or Mango… I think I am up for the challenge… Call me on that!!!
