Thursday July 18th will be an amazing opportunity for the public to attend a FREE Workshop on Alzheimer’s Disease: What it is and what can be done. This presentation will be lead by Joseph Gaugler, PhD.  Dr. Gaugler is the Robert L. Kane Endowed Chair in Long-Term Care and Aging, and a Professor at the University of Minnesota. His work focuses on the best way to support families and professionals who care for persons with memory loss. He aims to improve the health and well-being of carers through innovative programs and technologies. Dr. Gaugler is currently on a statewide tour to meet with families and professionals to talk about Alzheimer’s disease, share information and stories, and help us realize we are not alone on the dementia journey.

There are two separate locations and times that will be available. They will be the exact same presentation. 10am-11:30am in Westbrook at the Westbrook Community Center and 2pm-3:30pm in Windom at the Windom Community Center. The Minnesota State Patrol reported a Slayton man was injured after his motorcycle lost control and crashed on Highway 59 in Murray County on the 10th at approximately 7:30am. A 1998 Kawasaki ZG1200 driven by 63-year-ols Daniel Walter Jensen of Slayton was traveling northbound on Highway 59 in Mason Township when he lost control, left the roadway, and crashed in the southbound ditch. Jensen was transported to the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton with non-life-threatening injuries and then airlifted to Sanford in Sioux Falls. Jensen was not wearing a helmet. Outside agencies assisting were- the Murray County Sheriff’s Office, Slayton Fire and Ambulance
