There is so much STILL going on with the flood in Jackson, Windom and throughout our listening area and beyond in our state and Nation. Even though I have to admit I am a tried-and-true Radio gal, I understand I am dinosaur in the world of Social Media. To me there is nothing like working outside, listening to a game on the radio, or driving down the road and listening to an array of different music blaring out of the radio. I remember taking a boom box to the river or park and turning up the vibe! With that said, we live in a world of social media and KDOM is flowing with the vibe. IF you miss something on the radio, please know that we have been posting Non-Stop on our Facebook Page and updating our website page. We do not post anything that doesn’t come from a confirmed agency. We want our listeners and followers to know they can trust ALL information that comes from us. We are in the midst of starting recovery from the floods. Every community that we are present in, is at different stages of recovery or life. We know at KDOM that the world is STILL revolving and work still needs to be done and we will continue to bring you life happenings from all over because that is what Radio is all about. The ability to take you away and see what information, happenings and events are going on that will stun and whisk us away and fill our hearts and minds with more.

Cottonwood County has received a Presidential Disaster Declaration. This means that Public Assistance (PA) is available to aid in our public response. This funding will cover eligible disaster-related City, County, and State expenses at 100% (75% from the Federal government and 25% from the State of Minnesota). According to Windom EDA Director, Tiffany Lamb this is a very complex process through the Federal Government. The County has not heard back on individual assistance, but the county must receive public assistance before individual assistance is possible. Lamb stated that it is good news that the public assistance has been approved because it will unlock the Individual Assistance for property owners. This is why damage assessments are a must. Assessment Applications are available for Cottonwood County on the City of Windom website under the Damage Matrix and Damage Assessment Tab.

Every county will have their own damage assessment process it is imperative that you contact your city or County offices.
