Windom City Council met on Tuesday. It wasn’t at the top of the agenda but it still remains at the forefront of citizens’ minds concerning the Resolution Final Layout Plan for Trunk Highway 60 Windom Project proposal by Minnesota Department of Transportation. The Resolution had three parts. The Council voted NO to the 3-line restriping configuration. Municipal Consent was DENIED as promised by Mayor Jones and the consensus of the Council at the Open meeting on June 4th. The Council DID agree to new traffic signals with a maximum cost share for the city of $177,000 (half of cost of replacement). AND as promised the Council approved to make a formal request to MnDOT to remove the temporary or trial striping on the Southend of town by Kwik Trip and return our entry and roads to a 4-lane access as soon as possible!  On a personal note… That folks, is to me is our City Council and Citizens working together to achieve what is best for our community and doing it in an orderly and honorable way! Personally, I just want to say thanks for keeping your promise and hearing what the public was saying to you.

The second reading and title and summary were approved for Ordinance #199 2nd Series- Short Term Rental Properties. The Council approved a request to reallocate funds from the Bobcat Broom, Fogger and 2008 Pickup that were sold to go towards the purchase of a new 84” Angle Broom and the remainder would go into Island Park Shelter fund.
