Windom Police Department reported on the 19th officers spoke with a Windom Female resident about fraudulent charges on her bank account. After investigation, the bank was able to refund the monies and closed the bank card and issued a new one. As a reminder, it is important to watch your account activities and report any weird charges no matter how small immediately. There are so many ways for your bank cards to be compromised if you aren’t attentive to them.  An officer spoke with a Windom Male resident about issues with another party not following their court custody agreement. Officers responded to a one-vehicle roll over at the intersection of 6th Street and Quevli Ave at 6:43pm. The driver of the 2004 Cadillac Escalade was cited for Careless Driving and Duty to Drive with due care. At 8pm will officers were on scene with the vehicle roll over they noticed a vehicle traveling by the scene several times. The Officers had prior knowledge of said vehicle from past contacts and the vehicle was displaying red and blue lights on the vehicle which is against the law. The driver was a 16-year-old juvenile male from Lakefield. The case was sent to the County Attorney’s Office. On the 20th an officer spoke with a Worthington resident male at the Law Enforcement Center about a construction trailer that was taken from a property in Windom. Stolen was a 2022 14-foot dump trailer valued at $12,000. This remains under investigation. And at 11:23pm while on patrol in the area of River Road and 11th Ave deputies conducted a traffic stop and after investigation, charges are pending on a 16-year-old male from Windom for DWI.  Case is being reviewed by the County Attorney’s Office.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported 24 calls from January 18th to the 22nd. Deputies assisted other agencies with 8 transferred calls, medical, traffic accidents, dept of corrections and removal assists. Responded to 3 separate disturbance calls with one a domestic and 1 one-vehicle accident with no injuries. Deputies issued 6 citations for traffic stops and parking issues. Conducted 5 checks including burglar alarms, open doors at businesses after hours and security checks, and received 1 report of a Medicare Scam. Mountain Lake Public Schools School Board will be holding a Special Meeting TONIGHT at 5pm in Room #101 at 450 12th Street. Agenda items include Superintendent’s Contract for the 2023-24 School Year and then the Board will go into Closed Session Under Policy 205 to discuss Contract Negotiations.

The Windom City Council will be holding a special meeting on Thursday, January 25th at 3:30pm in the City Council Chambers. The agenda will include Building Official Resignation, Ratification of Agreement with Abdo Solutions-Interim Financing Director Staffing, Authorization and Finance Director-Hiring Recommendation.

The LSS Meals- Windom have released their February calendar of events and food. Wednesday, February 7th is Birthday Lunch and BINGO, Wednesday, February 14th is Valentine’s Day Lunch and Learn, Wednesday, February 21st is Half Price Day and Wednesday, February 28th is Chef’s Choice Day.

As a reminder any weather-related closures that may occur will be announced on KDOM 1580AM and 103.1 FM and Hot Country 94.3FM.

Meals are offered for dine in at the Windom Community Center, pick up, or home delivery Monday-Friday.  Please call at least a day before the meal you wish to receive.  According to LSS Meal Site Coordinator, Kelly Kleven the 2024 the suggested donation per meal for diners aged 60 years or over is $6.00 or what you can afford.  Donations may be made at the meal site or via the monthly Contribution request letter.
