The Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services Board meets this morning at 9:00am

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners will hold their regular meeting TODAY at 3:00 pm at the Jackson County Resource Center Cafeteria. Agenda includes Consent Agenda- Approving several Board Actions. Report from the County Administrator, the Board of Commissioners, with Committee and Board Reports.

The Windom Police Department on December 7th– ticketed a 17 year old female for failure to stop for a school bus that had extended its arm and had flashing lights while there were children outside of the bus on River Road. Charges are pending.

A case is still being investigated by the Windom Police Department involving a suspicious person who was possibly displaying a knife in an east side neighborhood in Windom on Sunday December 6th. According to two separate accounts the person was wearing a face mask and was dressed all in black. Police are asking anyone with information on this matter to immediately contact the police department at 507-831-6134.

Windom Police Department were called to an accident yesterday the 8th at the intersection of 3rd Ave and Alley behind Town & Country. A vehicle in the Alley was going to exit onto 3rd Ave and didn’t see the vehicle on 3rd Ave with blinker on to turn into alley. Light to Moderate damage was reported with no injuries.

Windom Police Department were called to a traffic Accident Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 6th Street. A vehicle was stopped at the stop sign when a second vehicle was making a left turn from 6th Street onto 6th Avenue. The driver making the turn stated the sun was in her eyes and did not see the vehicle at the stop sign. There was moderate damage to both vehicles but no injuries.

The Windom Police Department released their November Statistics- There were a total of 401 calls Two Adults were arrested, one juvenile was arrested and there were zero warrants served. 15 traffic accidents with one injury and 82 tickets/warnings were issued.

The Truman Police Department released an update stating that the missing 42-year-old Joleigha Johnson in Truman has been found safe.

The Springfield Area Nativity Theatre Association will presenting The Christmas Story in a Live Nativity Pageant December 10th and 11th in Springfield at 7:00pm. The pageant will be performed under the stars. The pageant includes Christmas Carols and stable scenes with all-local cast including a family with a baby, a live manger scene with camels and a live community choir. Professional sound and lighting systems enhance the production and large painted backdrops recreate the Biblical aura. The pageant was voted the “Best of Minnesota Live Nativity” by WCCO television viewers in 2017. This is a free event and visitors are encouraged to dress warmly. Visitors are invited to join the pageant crew and cast for holiday refreshments in the community center following the performance served by the Brookville-Burnstown 4-H Club.

Work for independence, income, and resources to participate in society. It is important to build relationships and social networks that provide support.

The Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce will be encouraging all Mountain Lake Businesses to participate in an Ugly Sweater Contest. The public will be voting for their favorite “Ugly Sweater” and a traveling trophy will be awarded to the winning business. The trophy is a one-of-a-kind treasure that the public can help the business win and display proudly. The actual day to wear the sweaters will be Friday December 17th, but you can vote for your favorite Ugly by going to the Mountain Lake Chamber Facebook and “LIKING” your favorite. A Like counts as a vote. All votes will be tabulated on Monday the 20th and the winner will be announced!!!
