The Windom City Council approved a lender acknowledgment form at Tuesday’s meeting related to the Windom Apartments workforce housing project on North Redding Avenue. City Administrator Steve Nasby explained the project is refinancing part of its construction financing through Minnesota’s PACE program, a state-backed energy efficiency financing tool. The program helps property owners pay for upgrades such as energy-efficient windows, insulation, and appliances, with repayment made through special property tax assessments rather than monthly mortgage payments. Nasby said the financing will allow the project to pay off its first mortgage through Bell Bank, while placing the City of Windom in a stronger lending position as the sole mortgage holder on the development. Council members also received an update on occupancy at the apartment complex. Nasby said the development is currently about half full, with certificates of occupancy issued for 57 of the 60 units. Work on the final three units is nearing completion, with city officials expecting the remaining occupancy approvals to be finalized soon. The council unanimously approved the acknowledgment form, allowing the Windom Apartments LLC project to move forward with the PACE financing.

So today is National Thank You day.. It is also National Donut Day… In my head the two just go hand in hand. I gotta tell you, yesterday my appreciation for ALL the men and women that work road crews or blue collar jobs is at an all time high. You may have another opinion BUT I want to send a thank you out to the City of Windom’s Street Department. Yesterday, I painted parking lot stalls in our KDOM parking lot. I am dying today. I just want to complain and whine about how hot it was, how much my back and arms hurt but I really only have done a miniscual amount of “Road Work” John Ketzenberg and his crew are some of the nicest and helpful people out there in our community. I think they get a lot of grief from all the keyboard warriors and those that just don’t understand the depth of labor they put into our town to make it a nicer, safer, and more accessible place. I am not knowledgeable but I gotta tell you the information and help they gave me, made the difference in getting our little project in our little corner of the city done, AND they SMILE ALL the time! And while I am on topic THERE is a wealth of information from so many professional people in our listening area AND more times then not, they are willing to take that extra moment to help with situations that in my world I have no clue about but have been thrust into. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have knowledgeable people around me. Each one of you truly deserve a medal. BUT I am thinking a massive thank you will have to do for now. THANK YOU to each of you that make my days easier with your smiles, laughter, and help. You deserve a donut!
