A Windom woman is facing multiple felony theft charges after authorities say she used a former employer’s credit cards and bank accounts for thousands of dollars in unauthorized purchases. According to court documents, 50-year-old Jennifer Kay Anderson is charged in Cottonwood County District Court with five felony counts of theft. Investigators say Anderson, who previously worked as an office manager at a local veterinary clinic, had access to company passwords and computer systems. After she was fired in March, staff reported possible continued remote access to clinic accounts and email. The complaint alleges she used a business American Express card and bank account for personal purchases totaling more than $20,000, including online shopping and digital platforms. It also says additional payments were made from the clinic’s bank account, including transfers to herself. Authorities say the misuse was discovered during a review of financial records following her termination. Attempts to contact Anderson were unsuccessful, and a warrant was requested for her arrest. If convicted, the charges carry potential prison time and fines.

Cottonwood County residents will soon see different access to driver’s license testing as the local exam station returns to its previous Monday schedule beginning June 8th. According to Cottonwood County Recorder Susan Horkey, the change comes after more than a year of limited testing availability in Windom, when exams were only offered once a month on Wednesdays. The Cottonwood County Driver’s License Exam Station, located at the BARC Building in Windom, will once again operate on Mondays only and provide written knowledge tests, road tests, and other driver examination services. The updated schedule follows a recent announcement from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety restoring standard service hours at select exam stations statewide. All driver testing services are available by appointment only. Appointments and updated hours and service information can be found and scheduled online through the Minnesota Exam Station Office website at www.dps.mn.gov or by calling 651-201-7777. County officials are encouraging residents to plan ahead and review current testing requirements before arriving for an appointment. While testing takes place at the BARC Building, driver’s license applications continue to be processed through the Cottonwood County Recorder’s Office Monday through Friday. Appointments are recommended and can be made through the county website at www.cottonwoodcountymn.gov or by calling 507-831-1458. Horkey says restoring the Monday testing schedule will help better serve residents of Cottonwood County and neighboring communities, adding that county officials appreciate the public’s patience during recent service changes and look forward to resuming more consistent access.

I have to be honest, I am still trying to play catchup from our last week and our over 2,000 miles on the road in a matter of 4 days… A good portion of that with a 5 year old and a 2 year old… I am glad it is National Snail Day because I am moving at a snails pace slow and steady not trying to win any type of race. I laugh because it is also National Paperclip Day IS THERE EVER enough paperclips, if you ask Joe, the answer is NO until one accidentally orders a box of paperclips that contains like 5,000…. SO in honor of the day if you want to come in to the station we WILL give you a complimentary paperclip! It is National Alligator Day so as the saying goes… See ya later Alligator!
