Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported 27 calls from January 16th to January 18th. Deputies assisted and responded to 11 vehicle accidents and disabled vehicles on the 16th, 1 on the 17th and 2 one the 18th. Deputies conducted 3  separate Welfare Checks , responded to a Hit and Run in the Jackson Hospital Parking lot and a trespassing issue in Jackson. MN State Patrol reported many accidents this past weekend. On the 16th at 7:09am, a single-vehicle rollover crash was reported on eastbound Highway 60 near mile marker 25 in Alba Township, Jackson County. The crash occurred when a Toyota RAV4 was traveling eastbound on Highway 60 and rolled over into the median. The driver, a 48-year-old male from Worthington sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Sanford Hospital for treatment. The driver was wearing a seat belt. Assisting at the scene were the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Heron Lake Fire Department.

Also on the 16th,  At 12:44pm A four-vehicle crash was reported on Minnesota Highway 60 near mile marker 47 in Lakeside Township, Cottonwood County. According to the report, a Chevrolet Equinox and three semi tractor-trailers were all traveling eastbound on Highway 60 when all four vehicles collided. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was a 36-year-old male from Mankato. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Windom Hospital. The three semi drivers,  a 28-year-old male from Big Lake, a 46-year-old male from Brunswick, Ohio, and a 31-year-old male from Eau Claire, Wisconsin were not injured. All drivers were wearing seat belts.Assisting at the scene were the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Windom Police Department, Windom Fire Department and Ambulance, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

On the 17th at 11:16am a two-vehicle crash was reported on westbound Highway 60 near mile marker 39 in Delafield Township, Jackson County. A Honda Civic was crossing Highway 60 from 470th Street and a Ford Flex was traveling westbound on Highway 60 when the Civic slid through the intersection. The two vehicles collided on the highway. The Ford Flex was driven by a 45-year-old woman from Windom. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Windom Hospital. Two passengers in the Ford Flex, a 47-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man, both from Windom also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the Windom Hospital. The Honda Civic was driven by an 18-year-old male from Windom and sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Windom Hospital. All occupants were wearing seat belts, and airbags deployed in both vehicles.  Assisting at the scene were the Windom Fire Department, Windom Ambulance, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, and Windom Police Department.

On the 17th- MN State Patrol reported a crash at approximately 4:21pm on Highway 68 near mile marker 66 in Vail Township, Redwood County. The crash involved a semi truck, a minivan, an SUV, and a passenger car. According to the MN State Patrol, a Kenworth semi-truck collided with a Chrysler Town & Country, which then caused a Chevrolet Equinox to collide with the semi. A Ford Fusion left the roadway as a result of the chain reaction. The 17 year old male driver from Vesta. And his 14-year-old male passenger were not injured. The semi-truck was driven by a 56-year-old male from Isle, who was not injured. The driver of the Equinox was a 17-year-old male from Vesta. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to CentraCare for treatment. And an 18-year-old male from Vesta driving the Ford with two 13-year-old passengers were not injured. All drivers and passengers were reported to be wearing seat belts. Assisting at the scene were the Lucan Fire Department, Wabasso Fire and Ambulance, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, and MnDOT.

The Annual Ice Fishing Contest hosted by Prudence Lodge #97 is set for Sunday, February 1st at Cottonwood Lake in Tegels Park, Windom. The contest is open to anyone, with an entry fee of $10 per contestant. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Sharing Center in Windom, making it a fun day on the ice for a great cause. Cash prizes will be awarded, with $100 for first place in each category, along with a drawing for two additional fish in each category. Categories include Walleye, Northern, Panfish, Bass, and Non-Game Fish. For more information, contact Mitch at 507-822-1784. The Windom Ambulance stayed busy throughout 2025, responding to nearly twelve hundred calls across the region. According to statistics provided by Windom Ambulance Director Kristen Porath, crews handled a total of 1,195 calls during the year.

Of those, 528 were local patient transports, while 133 calls did not require patient transport. Another 336 calls involved transporting patients to other medical facilities, with 262 trips made to Sioux Falls. Crews also transported patients 16 times each to Mankato and Worthington, 8 trips to Rochester, 10 to the Metro area, and 16 transports to other facilities.

All told, Windom Ambulance logged more than 73,000 miles, using 8,830 gallons of fuel, highlighting the extensive coverage and commitment of local emergency medical services throughout the year.
