The Mountain Lake Economic Development Authority minutes were approved at the Mt Lake City Council meeting. It was noted that during project updates, EDA Director Rod Hamilton reported that construction is officially underway on the city’s hotel project. Dirt work has begun, footings are set, and concrete is being poured. Hamilton noted the developer encountered soil issues at the site, leading to larger footings being installed after consultation with a soil expert. Hamilton also updated the board on the planned 12-unit apartment project. The developer remains committed and is exploring additional funding sources and cost-saving options. Hamilton said he has contacted Senator Weber about extending the project’s tax increment financing, or TIF, by an additional five years. The board discussed covenants for Lakeview Estates, specifically language related to a homeowners association. After discussion, the board decided to leave the covenants unchanged, noting any future changes would require a homeowner vote and re-recording with the county. Staff also reported progress at Heritage Estates, where a water-related ridge cap replacement has been completed and the development is now fully occupied.
