With the balmy weather we have had for the past couple of days, it is important to remember that melting snow can quickly refreeze and create hazardous travel conditions. Street and Park Superintendent Jon Ketzenberg says the City of Windom wants to remind residents and contractors about city code regarding snow removal. Under Windom City Code Chapter 95, Section 95.05, it is a misdemeanor for anyone not working under a specific contract with the city to push or place snow from private property or alleys onto public streets in a way that creates a traffic hazard. The same applies to dumping snow on other city-owned property. Ketzenberg says these rules are in place to help keep streets, alleys, and sidewalks safe for drivers, pedestrians, and city crews—especially during warmer stretches followed by freezing temperatures. Residents are encouraged to keep snow on their own property and avoid pushing it into streets or other public areas.

The competition is getting real and firerceat the  KDOM Reindeer Races. ! As we thunder into Thursday’s KDOM Reindeer Races, it’s a very special day  Chamber Day, proudly sponsored by the Windom Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Now let’s be honest — if communities had a secret ingredient, Chambers of Commerce would be it. Think of them as the peanut butter to our community jelly… the glue that keeps local businesses, events, and big ideas sticking together.

Chambers are all about supporting local businesses, promoting community pride, hosting events, creating connections, and making sure towns like Windom and Mountain Lake don’t just survive, they thrive. From small shops and startups to longtime businesses and new faces, Chambers work behind the scenes every day to keep local economies strong and communities moving forward.

That’s why Thursday is also a membership drive celebration. When you join a Chamber, you’re not just getting benefits like promotion, networking, and visibility you’re investing in your community. You’re saying yes to growth, teamwork, and hometown pride.

And because this is the KDOM Reindeer Races, the Chambers aren’t just cheering from the sidelines  they’re going all in! Each race winner will earn the prestigious Chamber Champion Medal, because nothing says victory like being crowned a Champion of Community. But wait — there’s more! Winning callers will also take home Chamber Bucks and Chamber Doe, courtesy of the Windom and Mountain Lake Chambers spending power that keeps dollars local and supports local businesses. We are now charging full speed into the final stretch of qualifying races, with semi-final spots on the line. And who better to help lead us there than the Windom and Mountain Lake Chambers organizations that know a thing or two about winning, teamwork, and long-term success. So as the reindeer race down the track, remember the Chambers are racing right alongside our communities, pulling us forward, lifting us up, and proving once again they might just be the best idea since the discovery of peanut butter. Thursday is Chamber Day on KDOM… Cheer loud, call fast, support local  and become a Chamber Champion yourself!
