Windom Police responded to a Vandalism/Burglary call on the 2nd at 7:05pm. According to the report there was a broken window in the 1300 block of 8th Ave, and it appeared they were trying to enter the garage. The reporting party stated the suspect was no longer there. Upon arrival the officer was shown the basement window that was broken and that the glass was scattered on the inside floor indicating it had been broken from the outside. The reporting party also stated that someone tried to gain access to the garage. A car that had been covered with a tarp had been removed. On the 3rd at 11:22pm an officer initiated a traffic stop on Highway 60. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 33-year-old Windom male for Driving While Intoxicated a Misdemeanor . A citation was issued, and the driver was released when he became sober. On the 5th at 12:29pm, officers were dispatched to the 400 Block of 16th Street in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The reporting party stated that on the evening of the 4th he returned from work at approximately 9pm and parked his car in the garage and did not return to his vehicle until the following day at approximately Noon. The reporting party stated there were several items missing including his driver’s license, First State Bank Checking Card, Library Card, Approximately $100 in cash and $4 in change. There was a PayPal transaction attempt.  At 5:16pm an officer was dispatched to Duffy’s Bar and Grill for a customer that was out of control. Upon arrival the suspect was with a Deputy. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 25-year-old male of Wilder for Disorderly Conduct pending review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. At 7:26pm an officer responded to a Disruptive Intoxication Call in the 1200 Block of River Road. The reporting party stated they heard screaming but didn’t know where it was coming from. The officer arrived in the area could hear screaming then observed a male sprinting towards his cruiser. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 24-year-old Windom male for Disruptive Intoxication pending review of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. At 9:04pm officers responded to a domestic assault call in the 700 Block of Drake Avenue. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 56-year-old Windom Male for Misdemeanor Domestic Assault pending review of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. A hold was also placed on the male for an active warrant out of Nobles County. On the 6th, an officer took a report of theft from a Windom Resident. According to the reporting party their Food Truck was parked in the 1500 Block of 2nd Avenue since October 3rd at 6pm. Sometime between then and 10am on the 6th, their food truck that was parked in front of their residence was broke into. The suspects took an A-I powered 4300 Watt inverter, valued at $1,500 along with a Game Boy Advance, Game Boy and Games. Estimated loss is $1,850.00.

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners met in regular session yesterday. Commissioners began the meeting with new employee introductions before approving the consent agenda which included minutes from the September 16th meeting, county claims, several subsurface treatment loans, and a $2,500 donation connected to this summer’s RAGBRAI event. Representatives from MnDOT’s District 7 presented an update on the state’s ten-year Capital Highway Improvement Plan, which outlines major transportation projects expected across the region in the coming decade. Commissioners also heard an ElevaCare cash flow update from Luke Comeau. Public Works staff provided information on bridge repairs along County State Aid Highways 22 and 14. The board also approved the hiring of an Assistant County Attorney and a conditional use permit recommended by the Land Management office. Following the regular session, commissioners reconvened as the Drainage Authority, approving minutes from the previous meeting and a resolution to initiate proceedings to consolidate several drainage systems. A brief session of the Jackson and Martin Joint Judicial Ditch 11 Board followed, where commissioners approved a redetermination of benefits.

A big night of BINGO excitement is coming to Windom this weekend. Wild Compass Environmental Education Charitable Gambling, the Prairie Ecology Bus Center, will host High Roller BINGO this Saturday, October 11th, at the Phat Pheasant Pub. More than $6,000 dollars in cash prizes will be up for grabs, including two must-go $1,000 dollar coveralls, a $500 dollar hotball, and several tipboards. BINGO packet sales begin at 4 p.m., with the first game starting at 6 p.m. Players can purchase a $100 bingo packet at the event, which covers all the night’s games for a chance at the top prizes. The Phat Pheasant will also offer food specials, including steak cubes with a side or a cheeseburger basket. All proceeds from High Roller BINGO support hands-on environmental education programs across southwest Minnesota through the Prairie Ecology Bus Center. Organizers note, seating is first come, first served, and participation is limited to the capacity of the establishment. Come out have some fun and support a great cause!
