Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 66 calls in the week of March 16th to March 22nd. Windom Police Department reported on the 20th at approximately 1:18am an officer was informed of a possible impaired driver by Kwik Trip. An officer located the vehicle and initiated a stop at the intersection of Highway 60 and 16th Street. After investigation an arrest was made of a 24-year-old male from Miles City Montana for a Gross Misdemeanor for Driving While Under the Influence pending review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. On the 21st at 2:51pm an officer was dispatched to the 1400 block of 2nd Avenue in Windom for a report of a 17-year-old female runaway. The juvenile had run away at approximately 2pm and a parent signed her as a Runaway. The Juvenile returned on her own at approximately 7pm that evening. This case was forwarded to the County Attorney’s Office and DVHHS.

Bridge Closure for Maintenance on County Road 15 in Springfield Township is in place according to the Cottonwood County Public Works. The bridge is located three tenths of a mile north on County Road 40 at the junction. The bridge will remain closed for the week to make repairs to extend the life of the bridge.

Two important dates are coming up for City of Windom! The annual Windom Citywide Cleanup has been set for May 17th. Curbside pickup will only allow 10 items or less. There will be drop off bins available at Tegels Park between 7am and Noon for additional items. You will need to show proof of residency in order to make deposits at the drop off site. The Annual Cottonwood County Recycling Event will be on April 19th. The Cottonwood County Recycling Event is where residents can dispose of their electronics, mattresses, appliances and household hazardous items at a discounted price. There will be another recycling event in the Fall.

The Windom College and Career Fair will be held on March 27th from 8:30am to 3pm. This career fair is organized by the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council. The event is to bring together students from surrounding school districts and providing a great platform for employers to highlight their career pathways, internships and summer job opportunities.
