FEMA has established a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Cottonwood County. The DRC is located at Cottonwood County’s North 71 office building (41385 US Highway 71 Windom, MN) which also houses the extension office and Veteran’s Service office. Some may remember the building as the old farm credit office.

Their office hours are Monday-Friday 9AM to 6:30PM and Saturday 9AM to 4PM.

The DRC will be open until Friday September 27th. This is also the deadline for registration for FEMA assistance.

There are a lot of knowledgeable people there. There are representatives from FEMA, HSEM, Minnesota Housing, and the Small Business Administration (SBA). There are numerous programs that these agencies offer for recovery. Everyone with damage should go speak with them. The DRC has Spanish interpreters onsite and a language line for all other languages.

If you still haven’t signed up and are wanting assistance, unsure if the damage you had would qualify, or are still working on fixing your home after the flood, go to the DRC. If you have already registered and are having issues getting documentation to FEMA or would like to appeal your case, go to the DRC.

Don’t wait until it’s too late.
