Mountain Lake Police Department reported 8 calls in the week of July 24th   to July 27th. An Officer handled a verbal domestic and dealt with found property and location of owners. An officer checked on a possible window peeper but was unable to locate. A warrant arrest was made of a 56-year-old male from Mountain Lake. An officer conducted a Civil Standby and had two separate assists with other agencies. One was a driving complaint, and the other was a traffic stop.

The City of St James sent out a reminder to its citizens that starting on Monday August 12th Sealcoating begins on the Northwest corner of St James No Parking signs will be placed in affected areas one day prior to sealcoating. Warning that cars will get towed if not removed. St James City Crews will be doing clean up of the loose seal coat chips one week after. A Sealcoating map is available by clicking link below

This weekend anyone with a 2024 Minnesota fishing or hunting license can access a special ticket package with the Minnesota Twins this season that includes a special edition blaze orange wool-blend Twins cap with ticket purchase. The Minnesota DNR Days partnership will be Sunday, Aug. 4, vs. the Chicago White Sox. Find game times and instructions for purchasing tickets on the Minnesota DNR Days webpage (mndnr.gov/twins).

It’s Fair time again and the Cottonwood County 4-H/Home Council Food Stand is seeking vegetable donations. They will greatly appreciate any extra onions, sweet corn, beets, cabbage, green beans, carrots tomatoes or cucumbers that you would be willing to donate. Donations are asked to be dropped off to the Northwest Kitchen Door Food Stand at the Fair Grounds anytime from August 6th to the morning of August 10th. Any and ALL donation are appreciated.

On a Fair Note- the Cottonwood County Fair kicks into gear on Tuesday August 6th with 4-H General Judging (4-H Exhibit Building), 4-H Mandatory Livestock Interviews (North Commercial Building), Commercial Exhibit Building Set-Up (North Commercial Building) and Entries for Open Class Exhibits: Only for Clothing, Needlework & Crafts; Visual Arts, Crafts & Photography (Herman Vossen Building). Starting on the 7th it is full blown Fair Activities and Fun through Saturday August 10th with Sunday the 11th set for 4-H Exhibits Released and Commercial Booth Removal. It looks like this years Cottonwood County Fair is slated to be a remarkable one!
