Windom EDA Director released the following information. The American Red Cross will be in the Windom Area High School west parking lot today with their clean up kits and supplies for distribution from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. The Debris Dump Site will coincide with same hours. The Cottonwood County Landfill will be open normal hours today from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Both Sites will be closed on Thursday July 4th for the holiday. Lamb asked that while you are cleaning your property, please ensure you are retaining pictures of any damage and debris. This is important for insurance and assessment purposes. Damage assessments are ongoing both in Windom and throughout the County. If you’d like to report your water damage using your phone or other device, there is a simple virtual report/survey at https://arcg.is/1KSXPf Cottonwood County residents (outside the City of Windom) are invited to use this virtual report to report damage. Lamb stated If you have already turned a printable form from the City of Windom website, thank you for being proactive! You do NOT need to complete this online survey report. Only one report is needed per address.
All City of Windom utility customers will receive a mailed packet this week including a QR Code to the online survey and a paper form. Please submit one of the two reports, in your preferred method (if you have not already).

Deputies conducted 9 Civil Processes, had 5 Motorist Assists, worked 5 Motorist Assist Served 1 warrant and conducted 3 Traffic Stops. Windom Police reported on the 28th at 9:08 pm an officer was on patrol on Collins Ave and observed a motorcycle with SD plates was parked at 678 Collins Ave. When the officer ran the plate through NCIC the report came back that it was stolen. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 59-year-old Windom male for Receiving Stolen Property. the Motorcycle was reported stolen out of Sioux Falls SD. The suspect stated he traded a vehicle for the Motorcycle. The matter is under investigation.

The Jeffers City Council met on June 24th The ordinance for reduction of clear water was tabled until the next meeting. Building permits for a garage addition and Pro-Shed building were approved. Due to several complaints, the clerk will send letters to owners of excessive barking dogs. Street repair was discussed. The mayor will check with Cottonwood County about borrowing their mastic machine to do some repairs. The clerk reported on her discussion with Dylan Oeltjenbruns, Drainage Inspector. The benefits for Judicial Ditch # 9 are only assessed on years there are repairs. This would only be on the 2.83 acres newly annexed by the city.

Cottonwood County Commissioners met on Tuesday. Discussion was held regarding the bridge on County Road 5. Emergency Management Director Paul Johnson, Kyle Pillatzki, Solid Waste Administrator; and Nick Klisch, Public Works Director, gave an update on flooding and debris management.
Motion to appoint Deja Weber to fill the remainder of the elected term of County Attorney at the salary of $135,000 effective August 5, 2024.
Motion to approve the Letter of Support for Rebuilding Together Minnesota’s application to the United States Department of Agriculture Housing Preservation Grant Program
Cannabis Ordinance was discussed.
Motion to approve the Legal Services Agreement between Cottonwood County and Muske, Muske and Suhrhoff, LTD., effective July 1, 2024. The Commissioners moved to retain Rinke Noonen to serve as a consultant on the String Lakes Outlet issue.
