The Windom Police Department released the following information in a Press Release this morning. On Tuesday, April 11th, the Windom Police Department was dispatched to Windom Area Health regarding an animal bite. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male who had been walking his pit-bull in the Environmental Center at approximately 7:45pm. The individual stated that his dog had been attacked by what appeared to be a larger dog with longer hair. The male suffered non-incapacitating injuries to his arm while trying to get his dog away from the other animal. The pit-bull was treated for its injuries at the Cottonwood County Veterinary Clinic. Officers determined that the other animal may have been a coyote. The area of the attack is a wooded area bordering a slough that is conducive to wildlife. After consulting with the Minnesota DNR, officers walked the area to search for the animal. It was not located. As a precaution, Windom Police Officers and Cottonwood County Deputies were on the trail this morning, as students walked to school. There were no incidents.

The Windom Women of Today are sponsoring a blood drive on Wednesday April 17th at the Windom Community Center from 1- 6pm. Did you know that the average donation age is 40 years old and older? That is a scary statistic. Windom Women of Today are challenging older donors to bring a young friend. By encouraging the younger generation to donate it will stabilize the supply going further into the future. Your blood donations can save a life. Let that sink in. By giving ½ hour of your time you can save a life to accident victims, cancer patients, and so much more. Blood donors are heroes to those that need them in a split second. Monica Muller member of Windom Women of Today challenges those that maybe have received a blood donation at some point in their lives to give back and complete the circle by donating. EVERY two seconds someone in America requires a blood transfusion. There is no age limit to the need. There are newborns, and toddler, children, teens, young and old adults. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Come to the Windom Community on April 17th and donate. You can schedule an appointment online by going to redcrossblood.org or walk-ins are welcome.

What a crazy week of weather we have had. I’m ready for the warm weather ALL DAY! I was hoping today something would be astronomically awesome and would pop memories in my head to celebrate. First thing that pops up is that it is National Day of Silence….. hmmmm…. THAT does not work for Radio… We will have people calling telling us we are off the air… ONTO more doable celebrations… It’s National Grilled Cheese Day. I can get on board with that.. ONE of my favorite sandwiches but it does make me think of my boy Drew. He HATED cheese growing up could not convince him that cheese was LIFE.. You know sometimes in life we can’t teach our kids things, we just need to wait. YEP you see there was this GIRL and SHE told him to try a Grilled Cheese and he would be amazed. I am sure she probably smiled oh so cutely and batted her eyelashes and then I got the call “Hey Mom, Grilled Cheese is really good, WHY didn’t you tell me sooner?” Ugghhh… the mind of a boy… We could be celebrating today for National ONLY CHILD Day if Drew was in the same room but alas Nate still has a brother! I also have to chuckle about it being National Hamster Day… I won’t go into detail but there is a story that I’m not proud of that involves two boys about 6 and 7 years old and a pet hamster named Harold. I have my bag of Licorice. I really dig the cherry ropes and I will celebrate by eating way too many today. Last, but not least, it is National Walk on YOUR Wild Side Day. I THINK that is self-explanatory… BUT if you want to share your Wild Side shenanigans with me lets get together and chat!!!
