Mountain Lake Police Department reported 5 calls from April 3rd to the 7th. Police Officers handled a child custody issue, Assisted the Des Moines Valley Health & Human Services Department with a welfare check and cited a 25-year-old Female from Windom for Driving After Revocation. Officers also assisted another agency with a domestic disturbance. At the request of the MN State Patrol Mountain Lake Police Officers assisted in trying to locate a driving complaint but were unable to locate.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported on the 8th Deputies issued a citation for no parking at 3:24am for a No Parking Zone from 1-6am in downtown Jackson. A call was transferred from dispatch to the MN State Patrol for a semi on 1-90 west of Lakefield that was pulled over onto the shoulder and leaning or about to tip on it’s side. Deputies also assisted MN State Patrol with a traffic stop and subsequent arrest on Mill Road east of Lakefield.  The deputy, a certified Drug Recognition Expert, administered a drug evaluation on the driver.  The driver was arrested for DUI and Canceled – Inimical to Public Safety. Deputies received a report of a stolen wood splitter from a rural residence in Des Moines Township and a deputy assisted the Jackson Ambulance with a medical call. There were no reports for April 9th.

Bridges Preschool is taking registrations for the 24-25 School Year. Bridges Preschool is for children that will be 3 or 4 years old by September 1, 2024. There is an online registration form or you can call Highland Early Learning Center at 507-831-6940 to register or for more information.

There will be a 55+ Defensive Driver Training on April 22nd from 12:30-4:30 at the Highland Building located at 68 10th Street in Windom. Participants can register for either the four- or eight-hour Defensive Driving Course. Participants will receive a certificate after attending all portions of the class they registered for. The Windom State Theater by request, will be playing of “The Fall of Minneapolis” for one last special time on Saturday, April 13th at 1pm. Civil War will play at regular Movie Times of 4pm and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The Mountain Lake Christian School invites the public to learn more about the lives of Jewish Children during the Holocaust. This free exhibition was made possible with a grant from the Odell Wind Farm Community Fund. Come open your hearts and minds to the Children of the Holocaust on Saturday April 13th from 1 to 4 and 5-8 and on Sunday April 14th from Noon to 4 at the Mountain Lake Christian School located at 710 11th Street in Mountain Lake.
