There is so much going on today in the world of National Celebrations that I am just going to devote my newscast today to the stuff that really matters!! Today is Good Friday- Literally… The Friday before Easter commemorates the death of Jesus Christ on Calvary the site just outside the walls of Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified. Most Christian denominations recognize Good Friday as a Holy Day. There is so much more to this celebration of Good Friday than just the religious services. For many, it is an intensely personal day of prayer and devotion.  It is a terrible day in history, BUT I have been taught that Good was attached to this day because Jesus and everything He stood for represents Good and He never faulter even against evil doers.  However you celebrate today, or don’t, you can’t change the fact that it IS Good Friday and in just two days the miracle to top all is coming!!!

Good Friday continues because how can it not be good when today is National Mermaid Day! Yep, it’s time to take out your whatchamacallit and celebrate the mythical creatures from under the sea… My Darcy girl is the ultimate mermaid and Henry does a pretty good merman impersonation…

Also take a moment in your day today and commemorate and honor all the men and women who fought during the Vietnam War. It is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. I tip my hat and say a prayer for each of you!

AND did you know that Niagara Falls had a day when it stopped flowing??? WHAATTT?!!! How old were you when you learned this… Well let me tell you.. back in 1848  Niagara Falls ran dry due to ice blockages. The waterfall continued to stay blocked for two days. This celebration aims to celebrate this extraordinary event that took place spanning from Ontario Canada to New York. Just so you know… Niagara Falls has never naturally dried up since.

And last but not least.. It is National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day. I am a true believer in small business and support the crazy mentality of the owners, after all I am one too. Our economy couldn’t run without small mom and pop businesses. They create economic growth and provide almost 70% of all new jobs in the country. That’s why it is important to celebrate National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day! It is a special day to appreciate the long hours, hard work and dedication it takes to run a small business. So, head to your favorite small business to say thank you! AND SHOP LOCAL!!!!
