Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported 19 calls from March 1st to the 6th. Deputies assisted other agencies with 6 transferred calls, medical, welfare checks and a disturbance.  Deputies responded to 3 accidents and conducted 2 traffic stops. Deputies responded to 4 vandalism and theft calls

The Brewster Fire Department was paged to a shed fire at a residence south of Brewster.  The Okabena Fire Department was also paged for mutual aid. The Lakefield Fire Dept. was dispatched to an electrical box fire south of Lakefield.  Crews were on scene for about 45 minutes. Investigator Martin, Investigator Koch, and School Resource Officer (SRO) Haley presented a Crime Scene Investigations class throughout the day at the JCC Middle School.

The Economic Development Authority of Windom will be today at Noon in the Windom City Council Chambers.

St James is offering a 55+ Driver Discount Program, which is a state approved accident prevention/insurance discount course that is open to the public; pre-registration is required. A MN Highway Safety & Research Center certified instructor teaches this class. Participants will be provided the latest information in regards to driver and traffic safety, new vehicle technology and updates with traffic laws. Persons age 55 and older who complete the course qualify for an approximate 10% discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years. First time participants must complete the initial eight hours of training and a four-hour refresher class every three years to maintain the 10% discount. There are two refresher courses being offered at the St James Community Building on April 18th and May 23rd from 1pm-5pm. Cost for the course is $24. You must pre-register by calling 888-234-1294 or by going online to www.driverdiscountprogram.com When going to the website you can choose either to take the course in person or online. Mountain Lake Christian School has announced that their Annual Live and Silent Benefit Auction will be held on Friday, April 5th. Doors open at 5pm and the live and silent auctions begin at 6:30pm.
