Windom Police Department reported on the 8th at approximately 9:48 pm officers were called to the 800 block of 4th Avenue regarding a possible sexual assault that recently occurred. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 54-year-old Windom Male for Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 4th Degree- engaging in sexual contact with victim using Coercion and False Imprisonment.

The FBI raided a home in Redwood Falls last week on the 7th which resulted in the arrest of 40-year-old, Andrew David Munsinger of Redwood Falls for illegally possessing ammunition-allegedly as part of his efforts to support a violent Neo-Nazi group based in Texas. According to reports, Munsinger was arrested at his workplace prior to a SWAT Team entering Munsinger’s home on East Flynn Street. The SWAT team cleared the residence to make sure there were no traps inside the house and once cleared, several dozen FBI agents moved into the house to begin a detailed search of the structure. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the FBI on the 7th released a 32-page criminal complaint detailing a year-long investigation into Munsinger’s activities. Munsinger was allegedly a member of the white supremacist Aryan Freedom Network (AFN), based in Texas. Munsinger has prior felony convictions for methamphetamine possession and narcotics sales which makes it illegal for him to possess firearms. Munsinger appeared in Federal Court on the 7th and currently being held in Sherburne County until his hearing and preliminary examination today, February 12th.

St James’ Mayor Jon Wilson, reported at the Economic Development Authority meeting, the board heard and discussed the 2023 Annual Report and the 2024 work plan for the EDA. Wilson stated the EDA will continue to work heavily on business development, housing development, redevelopment of blighted sites, comprehensive planning, participating in Quality of Life Initiatives and sustainability initiatives for 2024. According to Wilson, this is an exciting time for St. James and he is looking forward to seeing solid changes and growth through their EDA work. Wilson also stated that at the January 16th Council meeting Travis Elg gave an update and gained approval of a Splash Pad proposal for St James. Wilson went on to say that this project has been well received so far and continues to generate funds to complete the project. They are hopeful by 2025 the Splash Pad will be complete for the community to enjoy cooling off on hot summer days and views of the lake.

- “Compassionate Friends, a self-help support group for parents and families of children who have died at any age from any cause, meets at the BARC located at 1012 5th Avenue Windom at 7pm. The meeting room will be posted on signs in the main hallway from both the front entrance of the building and the parking lot entrance at the back of the building. Compassionate Friends meet the 2nd Monday each Month.
