Windom Police Department reported on the 31st at approximately 1:35am officers were dispatched to the 700 block of 12th Street for a domestic assault call. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 44-year-old Windom male. After review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, charges are for a Misdemeanor Domestic Assault

Jackson County Sheriffs Office reported on the 31st at approximately 6:27am a deputy observed a vehicle passing multiple vehicles on County Road 51 near Crystal Valley Coop. The Radar indicated the vehicle was traveling at 93 mph in a 45 mph zone. After investigation a citation was issued. At 9:01am a deputy responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Petersburg Road near County Road 4. The driver state they had to take the ditch to avoid getting hit head on by an oncoming vehicle. At 9:59 am a deputy responded to a two-vehicle crash on CR 9 north of Heron Lake. A Country Pride semi hauling fertilizer was parked on CR 9 with its auger extended out over the roadway. Another semi and trailer drove around the parked fertilizer rig and collided with the auger causing damage to the auger and the trailer to the second semi. At 1:24pm deputies arrested a 44-year-old female from Primghar Iowa at the EconoLodge in Jackson for 5th Degree Controlled Substance Possession. Deputies investigated a theft report involving money removed from a bank account. The matter remains under investigation. The Brewster Fire Department was paged to a combine fire in Ewington Township at 6:24pm.

Windom Area Health is moving along in the Medical Building Expansion. This week, there was demolition clean-up and they are finishing soil corrections and are planning to have the footings and foundation in by Friday. Tomorrow night is the Night for the Borscht Supper and 5th & 6th Grade class Bake Sale at The Mountain Lake Christian School located at 710 11th Street N in Mountain Lake. From 4:30-8pm you can experience the heavenly taste of homemade vegetable beef soup, bread and pie! They even are offering a gluten free version upon request.
