As we close out the month of May, and the fun of the summer starts to ramp up, don’t forget that a healthy blood pressure is essential for healthy hearts. A blood pressure higher than 130/80 mm Hg can cause serious health problems such as Heart Disease, Stroke, Kidney Disease and Dementia. Be proactive with your health and have your blood pressure checked. Things like diet, stress, genetics, and more can affect an individual’s blood pressure readings, so make sure to speak to your medical provider to see what options are best for you for keeping your BP in a healthy range!

Are you cleaning out your cupboards? Instead of tossing that perfectly good food in the trash, please consider donating your extras to the Windom Food Shelf.  The Windom Sharing Center is taking food donations to help fill their shelves. According to Director Christine Engler, the Food Shelf is capable of accepting anything from canned goods to frozen foods. The only stipulations is that she asks that food is not expired and not opened. If you would like to make a donation, please stop by the Windom Sharing Center on Tuesday’s or Wednesdays from 10am-1pm or call 507-832-8267 to set up an appointment for drop off. Make a difference to others that may be struggling. Ever little bit helps!
