Wolverines fall short against St. James Friday night

Second of a back to back for the Wolverines boys basketball team last Friday night ended in defeat against the St. James Saints.

It was a solid first half for MLA-C as they started the game with what looks like will be their preferred starting line-up for the majority of the season.  Wolverines took a lead into halftime and were playing much better as a unit than the night before.

The second half started much like the first, as the Wolverines continued to play well, shoot well, and rebound the basketball.  MLA-C had a double digit lead but seemed to start to run out of gas towards the end of the contest.  This was to be expected coming off a game the night before and it only being their second game of the season.  The wolverines did their best to hold on, but St. James kept getting closer and closer and ended up taking the lead with just minutes to play in the game.  MLA-C had a chance at the end of the game to tie it with a 3 but it rimmed out and St. James was able to hold on to win 63-60.

This will be a great lesson to be learned for the Wolverines moving forward.  A game in which at some points felt like was a done deal, ended up turning into a loss.  A great learning experience early in the season for the Wolverines that will, no doubt, only make them better as the season rolls along!

Kody Wassman led the way in scoring for the Wolverines with 21 points.

Anthonly Sletta had a big second half for the Saints, he finished with 15 points.
