The male advised the female was on probation and possibly had been drinking and using drugs. The female was taken to the Law Enforcement Center to provide a UA per her probation. The UA was positive for TCH and AMP. An Apprehend and Detention was placed by Probation for a violation.  At 6pm Deputies responded to an accident involving a paraglider who had crashed into a large cottonwood tree on the shore of Cottonwood Lake. Motorists traveling on Highway 15 north of Madelia may experience traffic delays as crews began resurfacing the highway on Thursday August 11th, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Motorists can expect to encounter lane closures, flaggers, and pilot cars on Highway 15 from Madelia to the Brown/Watonwan County line until the resurfacing work is completed in early October.

Approximately five miles of Highway 15 from the Highway 15/Highway 60 interchange to the Watonwan/Brown County line will be resurfaced. Project work also includes culvert repairs, installing snow fence along Highway 15 near County Road 3, installation of lighting at County Road 58 and County Road 6 intersections, and updating the bridges at Highway 15/Highway 60 and over the railroad.

The project is expected to be complete in mid-November, weather permitting. Motorists are encouraged to visit the Highway 15 project website for more information.

Work zone reminders

  • Drive the speed limit. It helps create a consistent, more predictable traffic flow for everyone.
  • Don’t drive distracted. Drivers need to be alert especially in work zones, which constantly change due to lane shifts, closures and moving workers and vehicles.
  • Move over to give workers room to safely complete their work.
  • Avoid unnecessary lane changes.
  • Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

August 12th is National Vinyl Record Day! It’s true that Radio use to thrive on the old 45’s… Today is all about listening and enjoying the unique and unmatched sound of the vinyl records. Most people will agree, vintage vinyl is as classic as the bands themselves. Go back to the recesses of your mind and capture that feeling of picking up that stero needle and placing it on the record and being whisked away to a concert in your own room! Enjoy the spin of the day!!!

Being the baby of five…. I HAVE to mention that it is National Middle Child Day also, BUT really, do we NEED to celebrate this day? I mean it’s the middle child… WHO CARES??? AND if you are not quoting Jan Brady with Marsha, Marsha, Marsha right this moment you really don’t get what this National Day of Middle Child means…
