Redwood County Sheriff’s Office reported on July 1st a 1993 Ford Pickup driven by a 20 year old male from Morgan MN  was traveling northbound on County State Access Highway 2 at the intersection of County State Access Highway 11 tried passing two vehicles that were turning left. To avoid colliding with either vehicle the driver went into the ditch at the northwest corner of the intersection. Driver complained of back pain and was transported to the Redwood Falls Hospital.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on Sunday July 3rd at approximately 2pm A parent reported to the Sheriff’s Office their 11-year-old child said a white male with a beard and wearing sunglasses, asked the juvenile to get in his vehicle in the area of Butler Avenue and North Hwy in Jackson. The juvenile said no, and the male then sped off. He was driving an older red SUV. The area was canvassed, and the vehicle was not located and no other witnesses to the incident were found. It may have been a case of mistaken identity, but due to the potential seriousness of the incident, we are alerting the public for precautionary reasons. Also, on the 3rd a Deputy conducted a couple of traffic stops one at the County Road 34 east of Jackson resulted in a 38-year-old male from Jackson arrested for probably cause DUI and another at County Road 10 near Clear Lake resulted in a citation for Underage Drinking and Driving with the passenger also issued a citation for Underage Consumption. The Jackson Fire Department and Deputies responded to a minor grass fire between Brown and Anderson Park. Fire was contained and extinguished within a few minutes.

The June monthly weather statistics have been reported for the city of Windom in June.  The information is compiled by a local weather observer and reported to the National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls.  Even though the first half of the month saw good moisture, June was a dryer and month that 2021.  one and seventy three hundreths of an inch of precipitation was recorded which is just over one inch less for the month than last year.  However, the yearly total is still just over an inch more that was recorded in 2021. The high temperature was 97 degrees on the 21st with six days thoughout the month of 90 degrees or more.  The low temperature for the month was 48 degrees on the first day of June.

Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners will hold their regular meeting this morning at 9am in the Cottonwood County Courthouse in Windom.  Upon completion of regular meeting agenda items being discussed, meeting will be closed to discuss strategy for labor negotiations.
