Windom Police Department reported that on the 29th of January officers received a call on a possible theft of power tools taken from a rental property in the 300 block of 9th Street. The complainant stated that the theft occurred between December 19th and January 19th. Estimated loss is $2,104. This matter is under investigation.

On February 8th Windom Police took a report from a Windom resident after he noticed minor damage to his 2004 GMC Envoy on the passenger front fender. This hit and run accident happened at an unknown location and an unknown date and time.

Mountain Lake Police department reported eight calls they responded to from January 31st to February 6th. On January 31st officers assisted another agency with a welfare check of a travelers vehicle. Everything checked out ok. On Feb 1st officers inspected a suspicious vehicle that turned out ok. On the 2nd– Officers took a report of a possible sexual assault this is still under investigation. On that same day, officers assisted another agency with a sex crime. On the 3rd officers took two calls one conducted a welfare check with everything was okay and they also responded to a fire alarm call at the Center Point Church. This turned out to be a false alarm. On the 4th a report came in concerning a hit and run at United Prairie Bank  and on the 6th officers assisted another agency with a vehicle off road.

Jackson County Food 4 Kids is looking for volunteers to make food packs for students in the community. Groups of 6-8 adults are needed, children are welcome with an adult. Packing takes place on Monday and Tuesday’s from 8am-4pm. The whole process takes approximately one and half hours from start to clean-up. Food 4 Kids needs packers from now through March 29th. Mountain Lake City Council met this week and according to City Administrator Michael Mueller the Council approved for rates for a fire call to increase, any call over 8 hours, there would be an additional charge of $200 per truck, except the grass rig, per hour, as well as $25 per person per hour for a call over 8 hours. In addition, Council increased the Island View Campground rates, $25 per night, $500 monthly, $1900 seasonal, and $200 winter storage. The City applied for the Small Cities Development Program Grant which is for rehabilitating housing in Mountain Lake, such as windows, HVAC units, etc. Mueller stated that they have applied for this grant in the past and were awarded. The City website conversion is complete and live now according to Mueller, for security reasons the City moved their platform to WordPress. Website has the same design with a few subtle changes.
