Minnesota State Patrol reported a couple accidents from this past week.
On January 14th a GMC was traveling Eastbound on Hwy 23 while a Dodge Ram was traveling Westbound on Highway 23 when the two vehicles collided. Road Conditions were Snowy and Ice covered. Minor injuries and damage to both drivers and vehicles.
Also on the 14th A Ford passenger van was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 on icy and snow conditions when at milepost 30, it left the roadway and rolled multiple times. All 8 occupants were transported to a local hospital with believed non-life-threatening injuries.

Mountain Lake Police Department reported since the 10th of January they have answered 14 calls. 2- Medical Alarm calls, a verbal warning for shoveling snow into this street, seven citations were issued for Snow Emergency Violations on the 15th, assisted motorist with off road vehicles, an assist with MN State Patrol with a wrong way driver at the intersection of Highway 60 and West in Mountain Lake were a vehicle was eastbound in a westbound lane. One trespassing call- trespasser was asked to vacate property. A 47 year old Female and a 60 year old male from Mountain Lake were arrested for an Order of Protection Violation and on the 10th of January, Officer took a report of Terroristic Threats. This matter is still under investigation.

In the City of Springfield, The Martha Anderson Veterans Memorial Park Committee is hosting an open house to collect community feedback on current design concepts for the proposed improvements.
This project continues to be a community led initiative and a community wide fundraising campaign as well as additional grant writing is anticipated to begin later in 2022. The open house will be on Tuesday, January 25th from 4-6pm in the Springfield Area Community Center.

Windom Area School Board is holding a special Board Meeting TODAY at 4pm in the Windom Area Elementary School Conference Room to accept the resignation of current Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt who has served for the past 14 years and has accepted a position with the Meade School District in South Dakota. Wormstadt’s last day will be June 30th of 2022. At this special meeting the Board will Discuss and Approve the Superintendent Hiring Process or Firm.
