The Windom City Council met on the 6th and a change is coming to local TV bills. The Council approved a rate increase for video services through WindomNet. Starting June 1st, WindomNet video subscribers will see a 15 percent increase in their monthly bills. The City Council approved the change in a 3-2 vote, with Councilmembers Scott Benson and James Nelson voting against it. Telecom General Manager Jeff Dahna says the increase is needed to keep up with rising programming costs, especially with the recent addition of Twins TV and higher network fees. He noted this is the first video rate increase since 2017. The changes apply to all video service tiers—Basic, Expanded Basic, and Digital. The Windom Telecom Commission, which oversees the city’s telecommunications services, voted unanimously last month to recommend the new rates. Dahna added that the adjustment is strictly to cover programming costs and does not account for labor or operational expenses. The new rates go into effect June 1st. For more information, contact the Windom Telecom Department.
