Windom Area Schools will be reaching out to the community for their input on or around the 13th of November. The survey being distributed is meant to help community members understand the facility needs for Windom Area Schools and it will give everyone a chance to provide feedback. According to Windom Superintendent Jamie Frank, the district has been exploring options to update the facilities to address the needs of Arts (music, band, choir, drama, etc.) and Athletics (football, soccer, baseball, softball, wrestling, gymnastics, the locker rooms and robotics) Cost is one of the biggest concerns and it has been stated at most, the project would cost taxpayers $35 million to address ALL of the Arts and Athletic needs. Capitalized interest was added to the original $33 million that was stated in earlier reports. The $35 million is the cost prior to applying for grants, donations, and naming rights contributions have been established. There is a lot more information along with Tax impact chart if you go to https://secure.smore.com/n/2jgqc4

A home valued at $100,000 would see an increase of $7 per month or $84 a year

A home valued at $200,000 would see an increase of $19 per month or $228/year

A home valued at $300,000 would see an increase of $32 per month or $384/year

Look for the survey. Take the time to educate yourself and get the facts and learn how it will affect your community, children and area in which you live in. Be constructive and use your voice to relay feedback so that the district can proceed with their quest.
