The monthly weather statistics have been reported for the city of Windom for May.  The information is compiled by Dave Fjeld, the local weather observer and reported to the National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls.  In ay we received six and 83 hundredths of an inch of precipitation. That’s 2 inches more than we received in 2023.  For the year we have received 14 and 77 hundredths compared to 13 and 28 hundredths last year.  Our high temperature was 87 degrees recorded on May 13th and again on the 18th.  The low for the month was 40 degrees on May 5th.

Big changes have been made to Riverbend Liquor in Windom. Tuesday and Wednesday are great chances for the public to visit and see all those new changes. Riverbend Liquor is having a Grand Re-Opening to show off the beautiful new store. KDOM plans to be broadcasting LIVE on Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm. There will be a Ribbon Cutting at 3pm. There will be chances to win door prizes and Riverbend will be having special taste testing on several different products on Tuesday and Wednesday. Don’t forget to stop by and see the new updates and remodel, say hi to KDOM, and sign up for all the drawings! The fun at Riverbend Liquor is from 2-6 on Tuesday and 3-6 on Wednesday.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an open house for the Hwy 60 Windom project tomorrow, Tuesday, June 4th from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Windom Community Center, 1750 Cottonwood Lake Dr.

During the open house style meeting, attendees can learn more about plans for 2025 construction, as well as the proposed restriping of four to three lanes. There is no formal presentation and people are welcome to arrive at any time. Following the open house, there will be a public hearing on the project during the Windom City Council meeting starting at 6:30 p.m.

In 2025, MnDOT will replace the signals and make Americans with Disabilities upgrades at the Hwy 60 intersections with 6th St. and 10th St. in Windom. MnDOT is also proposing to restripe a three-lane configuration as a pilot for community demonstration, consisting of one through lane in each direction and a center left turn lane. The pilot is based on a preferred option from the 2019-2021 Hwy 60 Windom Corridor Study, with a goal of improving safety and traffic flow while maintaining business access through the city.
