The hunt has come to an end for Sean Eric Vanmeveren. On Wednesday at 8:23 am the Murray County Sheriffs Department located the stolen vehicle known to be driven by Vanmeveren. As Murray County deputies were setting up a perimeter to attempt to make an arrest, Vanmeveren got into his vehicle and began driving toward two Murray County deputies. Once Vanmeveren saw the deputies he accelerated his vehicle around the waiting deputies. Deputies were able to identify Vanmeveren as the driver and a pursuit began.
Deputies pursued Vanmeveren for about six miles, Vanmeveren entered a rural Murray County farm site. Vanmeveren exited his vehicle and stole another vehicle from the farm. Vanmeveren led deputies and assisting agencies on an approximate 45-mile pursuit through Murray and Cottonwood counties. Vanmeveren then stole a second vehicle at a rural address near Westbrook. According to a report, while the pursuit continued through the City of Westbrook, the school was placed on a brief lockdown. The pursuit came to an end just northwest of Dovray. Vanmeveren was taken into custody without further incident. During the pursuit, Vanmeveren made at least 5 attempts to ram pursuing officers’ vehicles. Vanmeveren was wanted for his connection to several vehicle thefts, property theft, and pursuits in the counties of Murray, Cottonwood, Redwood, Jackson, Blue Earth, as well as Emmet County in Iowa.
The Murray County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Slayton Police Department, Buffalo Ridge Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office, Westbrook Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota DNR, and Westbrook Area Ambulance.

Windom School Eagle Projects are done with thought and consideration from students. The effects of these projects have a ripple effect that just make the community better. Senior Kaycee Hunter has chosen to host a Blood Drive for her achievement project. According to Hunter, she chose to do a blood drive because her cousin has factor 7 deficiency, which is a genetic bleeding disorder where your blood does not clot. Hunter went on to say, when she was 10 years old, she spent time in the Mayo Hospital and needed blood transfusions. Finding out about this condition opened her family’s eyes to the need for blood donations. Hunter is planning on becoming a first-time donor at this blood drive and is hoping others in the community will follow suit. Hunter stated that she has learned through organizing this blood drive that blood is always needed for unexpected medical issues and accidents, and through donations you can save a person’s life. At some point in everyone’s life, you will know someone who will need a blood transfusion. With a goal of at least 30 people to show up to donate, Hunter is encouraging everyone in the community to consider donating on Thursday April 4th from 9am-2pm at the new/Blue Gym at the Windom High School, located at 1400 17th Street. The community is to enter through the west side doors, DOOR # 7. To pre-register for an appointment, you can call 800-733-2767 or visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter WindomMNHS . Be the difference and donate April 4th and help create the effect of the ripple…

I’ve always been blessed with the ability to place my head on the pillow at night and fall asleep. I don’t say this to brag because sometimes this is a good thing and others not so good, growing up at Slumber Parties I missed out on a lot of the fun Shenanigan’s after bedtime but still got in trouble even though I truly had no idea what transpired and in College I was victim to many shenanigans after placing my head on the pillow. Now that I am old, it really is a blessing. Today is World Sleep Day. This day was created to emphasize the importance of sleep and address common sleep-related issues that many people suffer from. It is also EVERYTHING YOU THINK IS WRONG DAY… When I first read this, it made me pause then I had to research it and guess what I was wrong about my initial thoughts… Turns out, it is a unique and unofficial holiday that aims to make people realize that they are not always right. Did you know that bad decisions come from mental fatigue? Yes, however, according to the creator of this day, you shouldn’t make decisions on this day because nothing goes right today! THAT my friends leads me to inform you that today is also Dumbstruck Day which is a day dedicated to the things we become dumbstruck by. The best part is, sometimes the facts or news that leave us dumbstruck aren’t even true. So… to sum it up… If you hear something that has totally dumbstruck you, YOU may be wrong and it would be best if you just went to sleep…
