Welcome to the 28th day of July… It is hot. There is no way around it, I am NOT complaining because I WILL be complaining in a couple months about how cold it is… The older I get the less I like the cold… I am sitting in my air-conditioning and pondering the day, and did you know that today is Beatrix Potter’s Birthday? She was born in 1866 and to this day one of my all-time favor authors. Thinking about her makes me think of my Granddad and his library/study. I loved going to visit him as a child because he would hide money in his books and tell me to pick one to read. He knew I would always choose a tale about Peter Rabbit, Jeremy Fisher, Jemima Puddle Duck or Mrs Tiggy-Winkle. I’d climb into his chair and the two of us would go off on an adventure and giggle at all the silly things that naughty rabbit would do. I inherited the Beatrix Potter Books on his passing. AND still to this day when I open one of the books up, there is a dollar tucked in it and a smile that carries to my heart. I can’t forget to warn you that if you are riding on an elevator today EXPECT to talk to whomever is riding with you because today is National talk to someone on an Elevator Day. It is also National Soccer Day. Back when I was a teenager, I played competitively and loved soccer. When I had kids, I just knew I was going to be a great soccer mom… Welp, in life we don’t always get what we think… Steve and I still laugh about Nate when he was about 6 standing on the soccer field looking so awesome in his uniform and shin guards and cleats. I was so excited this was the beginning until he was just standing off to the side of field. I hollered GO NATE GO get to the Ball Catch the others… He stood there and put up his hands and said, WHY? They are all are going to be running back here in just a minute… The soccer dream died that day! Memories are just so awesome and I hope on this day, National Milk Chocolate Day, you unwrap some Milk Chocolate and take a moment to open that door in the recesses of your mind and let yourself reminisce and smile.
