Purrington emphasizes drivers should stop for people both in crosswalks and not in crosswalks…

Purrington says when drivers stop to allow people to cross the street, make sure to make eye contact with pedestrians so it’s as clear as possible to whoever is crossing the street that you are stopping to allow them to cross the street safely. Purrington also offers tips to those who are walking and want to cross the street…

Purrington adds if you’re walking at night, to wear something highly visible and reflective and to cross the street in a well-lit area. For pedestrians it’s recommended you walk against traffic and for those riding a bicycle to bike with traffic.

Purrington gives his final tip that if you’re riding a bicycle on a roadway to try move over as much as you can to allow traffic to pass you and if you’re driving past a person on a bicycle to slow down and be patient until you can safely pass the person on a bike.
